Hidden Treasures

Through the Arts Council funding this collection was inspired by the treasures  hidden in the basement of Doncaster Museum and Art gallery. Using certain chosen artifacts the work was created to add contemporary values to historical objects, such as tiny jewellery boxes and taxidermy creatures in glass cases and domes. A series of large scale jewellery type sculptures were made similar to the original ones but this time invested with precious items important to our world today, for example Jewel became a celebration of the ocean and all the treasures found beneath, another celebrated the  Artic but were also wanting to suggest a fragility to these treasures and the need for protection and thought.
