Cubo: Exhibition

I’ve just stopped painting to mention my new show!

As well as exhibiting my art work in galleries I am also very interested in placing it in other venues, as I think a non-gallery situation allows for greater access to the arts and exposure to both my work and art in general.

I recently put my collection of paintings known as the Art of Disconnection in gallery in Doncaster, and then was given the opportunity to show them at Cuboworks - a super new cool business venue in the heart of Sheffield. It is a reconditioned building which has a real industrial vibe going on plus huge ceilings and massive walls to perfectly house my large scale paintings. Suzy who manages the place is really keen to have a range of different artists in Cubo to both promote their work to all the hot desk businesses housed in there - and also give a contemporary splash of colour and interest to the place.

Lots of people pass through Cubo everyday as they go to work or have meetings downstairs where my work is displayed and so it has become a talking point and I have had some interest for both buying and doing a commission for a few people.

This is great news as all my paintings are for sale and I want to promote my work across the city - so hopefully other galleries and business venues will be in touch in the future. I will be proactive as well in findings new places as well as Cubo, otherwise my work will sit in my studio and I really want it out in the real world and ideally in someone’s home.

My paintings are abstract but I feel have a different energy because they are inspired by brain connections and creativity, which creates an interesting new abstract language. I am developing that language as I continue working post Festival Of The Mind.

Hopefully myself and the researchers I worked with are going to secure some new funding to do an exciting community engagement project next year where I will create with people new paintings around dementia, so watch this space!
