Visual mixed media artist based in Sheffield exploring the relationship between creativity and brain function through bold, colourful abstract language

The Art of Disconnection:

This collection of work explores my interest in creativity and the brain and I wanted to have time and resources to explore those ideas so

I was awarded a Develop your Creative Practice (DYCP) grant from Arts Council England to travel to Fremantle Arts Centre in Western Australia for 8 weeks. While I was there, explored creativity and brain patterns and the idea that art can connect us to the world and make us feel like we belong.

In the studio.

I like to work on a large scale and build up my paintings using layers of both digitally printed images, acrylic paint and drawing techniques to develop the work.

This can often result in pieces being cut up and reassembled as I explore ideas trying to hone and direct the work.

Current work.

Recently my work has developed into creating large abstract paintings in a desire to construct a new language of shape, colour and form.

This new way of working has really challenged my practice and pushed it in a new and exciting direction to explore themes around creativity and brain function.
